AR range also doesn't matter, for long range you got a sniper rifle. When playing with a single weapon slot you should be using DMR to begin with it you're going for efficiency. It's a lot more flexible weapon type than an AR. M4A1 or 516 both are very good in my opinion and can be used at all ranges to a good extent.
