I just called natera, my insurance, and my provider about this yesterday. I also was told insurance would cover it completely by Natera and then got a $600 bill and was PISSED. My doctor ended up calling Natera and they adjusted the bill due to $249. I’m still annoyed I have to pay, as I didn’t pay a dime with my now 2 year old.

Natera themselves emailed me and said because I have a high deductible plan I would owe $2500 out of pocket if I billed to my insurance, if I self paid instead I would only owe $250. Again knowing my deductible was met I opted to bill my insurance, my final bill from Natera came in 2 months later for $65.Now Natera updated their bill pay site and say my new balance is $1341. I plan to call them tomorrow to ask them to fix it, but wanted to see if anyone else had a similar experience and advice for me! The same thing happened to me-contact your doctor’s office and they’ll put you in touch with their Natera representative, and they will have the bill lowered to $250. The Natera representative told me they sent me a text message before billing my insurance, but I definitely did not receive one, and she didn’t press it, thankfully.
They ran my Natera bill through my insurance told me I owed almost $700. I called and asked for the $250 self-pay price and was told that was a “promotion” and there was no way they’d be able to do it. Thankfully I read lots of Reddit posts, because I decided to just hang up and call back, to speak with another representative.
